Sure there is a million different pieces of research floating around talking about convergence, new media, old media, journalism education, etc, but does anyone really know if we are gaining any ground? From this position I can see plastic trays stacked high, each one filled with hundreds of baby chicks, some hatching as I watch. I can see my friends cradling individual lives in their hands while they watch on as workers treat other little lives like pieces of rubbish. Throwing them around, kicking them, squashing them beneath their boots-spilling their blood and insides onto the floor.
